I will just say that when man was created in God's image, it was male and female.
heh, I'm thinking you're making it more complicated than it really is, if Adam was both Adam and Eve, then why did he need a "suitable" helper, if the "suitable helper" was simply just a part of himself personified into a new being.

Surely Adam exercised dominion over the earth insomuch as to name it and its contents before Eve ever came around on the scene. Unless, of course, Eve pre-existed as part of Adam.

I don't think so. However, we need to have choice to truly do good. Why else would there have been a forbidden tree in the garden of Eden. So, we don't need to see evil, we just have to have the option of choosing it.
