I do think that the book would have been more understandable to me if I were more familiar with Islam. I only know the very basics about their beliefs. I am guessing most people reading the book are kind of in the same level as I am in terms of know…

I think sometimes attending to other's needs is as simple as treating them like a human being. It's acknowledging that they exist by talking to them or even just making eye contact with someone. In our little insulated world, we just hurry about our…

I have two tickets to each show. I haven't received them in the mail yet but you are welcome to them (regular price silly, I'm not going to over charge you!). If you want them let me know. I live in Alaska, so I should get them a few days later than…

The Northern Lights are Calling Me...

No. Alaska is NOT dark for six months of the year and light for six months. Most of it is pretty much like here, only off by a few hours.

No. You can NOT see Russia from our house. When we get a house. Well, maybe if Alex and Nick go fishing in the Bering Sea on the Time Bandit with Jonathan...

No. It does NOT snow from September to May. At least not in Wasilla. Their weather is not much different than here (ie Upstate NY). In fact it is almost December and they still have no snow and it is in… Continue

My Adventure with Jimmy B.

This weekend Glenn and I went to a Jimmy Buffett concert. Now, as any who have ever attended one will attest to, the tailgate parties before the concert are often more fun than the show itself. Usually, there are tens of thousands of happy "Parrotheads" picnicing in the lot with colorful tropical decorations, often with sandboxes, pirate ships, blowup sharks, and lots of good food. And lots of pot and drinking, unfortunately. Since I am a diehard Parrothead, I go and abstain from the latter and… Continue

A Parole Officer? Who, Me?

If you asked me back when I graduated from the University at Albany's Master's in Social Work (MSW) program in the mid ninties, if I would be a parole officer someday, I would have told you that you had lost your mind. I wanted to work with children and families. I wanted to help innocent victims of crime and poverty. I wanted to do my little part to make the world a better place.

I think that most of my fellow MSW's felt the same way. There's something about the way the programs are set up tha… Continue

Hi Jenn,
Was wondering if I could hear the story about when you first picked up Black? You said "that is another story." Caught my curiosity. :)

And thanks for all your open-ness in the thread about your own personal struggles.

I saw your post where you said you used to work in/for a prison. I'd love to pick your brain about that sometime or hear some good stories. I'd love to use some of those ideas in my writing. Let me know if you're open to that.
God bless.

umm, first thing, the bible has very little account of the Nephilim, vampires, so Ted can and is writing anything he wants on the subject. Now I have a theory, could it be that the other Earth is the new world where Satan comes back to tempt man af…

Well, Barrak Obama has a high dissaproval rating as well, but he's still extremely popular... I have no idea what that's about. All I know is this; 360 is a wonderful system, Wii is a wonderful system, and PS3, I'm not sure. I haven;t encountered it…
