The mods have been pondering ways to organize various topics and discussions and what not on the board, and have come up with a brilliant idea for dealing with the (recently renamed) Circle Writing Workshop, which combined the old Circle Works and Writing Style.
We want people to be able to ask writing questions, but not have their questions lost among posting of personal writings. But we also want people to post their writings and be able to get feedback (and also not get lost).
So here's the brilliant idea:
We can all post our stories, poems, whatever in our blog.
That is what this thread is for. It's the place to post something like, "Hey, I wrote a story about a society of sentient and civilized jellyfish. I posted it in my blog here [include a link]. Check it out and tell me what you think!"
I know, some of you feel nervous about this change. But here are the benefits:
1.) Your questions about writing can be answered and will be less likely to get lost.
2.) It makes good use of this amazing new site and the capabilities that come with it.
3.) You still get to share what you've written with other people.
4.) When you go looking for what you wrote and what people had to say about it, you can find it with ease! It's just right in your blog!
Some of you are thinking, "What about what I've already posted? Are you going to delete it?"
Nope. We're going to leave it. But we do ask that you post it in your blog also, then post in this discussion, linking to your blog. You can copy and paste everyone's posts, in response to what you wrote, into your blog as a comment, then continue the discussion there. We will also (for now at least) give you the option of locking your discussion/thread or deleting it to prevent others from posting in it. Future discussions will be locked, however.
Whew! I think that about covers it.
So remember -- post about your writing here. Give a brief description (no more than 2 or 3 sentences), and include the link to your blog, where the actual writing is posted.
Happy writing!
