So, I assume we all know the Christian and Celtic/Pagan origins of Halloween, and about All Saint's Eve and Samhain.

I assume most of us who celebrate Halloween do so in the secular manner of dressing up and getting candy, going to parties, etc. I assume most of us do not go all Pagan or even think about all those saints.

If any of these assumptions are wrong, feel free to post your own point of view.

But...the question becomes: Is Halloween sanctifying/okay for Christians who love God to participate in?

I have not received any revelations that tell me not to participate in Halloween, but I wonder...Is a holiday devoted to witches, demons, goblins, and ghouls something God would admire?

Can we participate as long as we don't dress up as the aforementioned or glorify them?

What do you all think?

Love in Christ,
Cassie

thanks for reading my blogs tho. i hope that gave you a glimpse.

and the satanists laughing at the ignorance of especially Christians that celebrate Halloween? it wasnt something I made up. it was something i
1. have experienced
2. just a couple of weeks ago while researching came upon a website similar to this cept it was run by satanists. what i call "real satanists' hehe. and it was an occult forum. i could and can tell when its the real deal and not some teenagers in a goth kick or dabblers or even wiccans. more of the info i read is some of what i will be discussing in my thread.
they were the ones that mentioned and were stating how they laugh at us (christians- the term they used was "actual followers of jesus") but how they laugh at us, laugh at our stupidity, and call us weak and on and on...in re: to those who celebrate halloween.
its very interesting. sorry for the delay

:) You have an amazing testimony... and an amazing healing. God is so good! Even in that darkness, you were His. You have always been His. And He has always been yours. :) It's amazing.

Don't worry if it takes you a while to sort out your thoughts. It makes me more excited to read something someone's put a lot of thought and effort into.

I don't know that I agree that satanists love Halloween or smile at our ignorance.... actually, that brings up the question of "If Halloween were wrong, and people celebrated it in ignorance of the origins or whatever it is that makes it wrong, is that ignorance an excuse?" I am usually the first to say ignorance is no excuse (Read Romans 1:18-21 or so). But it is an interesting question.

I look forward to getting to know you more, too. :)

No prob. on the delay. I'm still waiting for it, though. :)

You have a hard-earned wisdom that I'd be a fool to ignore, but I don't think I'll give up everything at all about Halloween unless God tells me to. I like it too much. Maybe I should pray about it...

oh! no worries. i used to try and convince people to not celebrate halloween. and i try try try not to make any judgements about anybody who does decide to celebrate it.
it is really true that the Holy Spirit is the One who nudges, whispers, or outright shows or tells His people what is wrong and what is right. And I cannot replace that. I only do what He tells me to do. There may be something up His sleeve that I am totally unaware of. You know what I mean?

But yeah, I kinda gave up this arguement /debate a couple of yrs ago. Cause I would get to upset. And that only makes the darkness happy. I do ask questions of people and speak out my own beliefs which is only fair. And most people here understand that if it is done in a civil way. : D
So, my question right now is do you consider or call halloween a holiday?

Holiday, I believe, comes from the words holy day. So technically, I wouldn't say Halloween is any holier than any other day, no. Yet I do call it a holiday in the vernacular, meaning it is a day separated from any other day by secular means, but is not necessarily holy. Make sense?

I like the way you are conducting yourself, meaning that I don't think you're being too judgemental or harsh or anything. Civil debates are very fun IMO as long as we don't allow ourselves to get too upset about them. After all, the opinion of our "opponent" in the debate doesn't matter nearly as much as the opinion of God. :) Plus, we can always respect our "opponent" as another human, and, in this case, another Christian. :)

you are right. it means holy day. that is why i definitely refuse to call that day a holiday. no matter what. that is one thing i will stand firm upon. for it is a holy day or holiday for the ritual satanists. and since i am set apart from them in every way i will not say to people it is a holiday for me. i really hope that the future of America will not consider halloween a national holiday. with the way it is going and being placed second right behind Christmas in the sales dept, i think it may be a good possibility

edit: oh, dont see me as Miss Nice and Sweet just yet. I still struggle at composing myself sometimes. Just ask others. heh
