The Circle/A Ted Dekker Community

The official online community of New York Times best-selling author Ted Dekker.

I'm getting really excited about this new ABC series coming in the fall. The teasers during the season finale of LOST piqued my interest, but now that I've done more research on it, I can't wait. (And I know I was saying the same thing about Fringe this time last year, but I really don't see how they could screw up a story like this.)

For 2 minutes and 17 seconds, every human on the earth blacks out. During that time, they have a vision of themselves 6 months in the future. They have to figure out what this is, what caused it, and what it means before April 29--when the future they saw will finally catch up with them.

The trailers look epic. It's shot in HD. David Goyer (of Dark Knight, among others) is behind it. So is one of the producer from 24.

Here's one of the many sites: http://flashforwardtv.com/

It's loosely based off a 1999 novel of the same name. They actually enlisted the help of the author, Robert J. Sawyer, in re-writing and revamping it for today's television audience, and he likes what they've done with it. If an author likes a book-to-movie adaptation, that says a lot, doesn't it? I'll be reading the book soon and hopefully watching this when it debuts Thursday, September 24.

Yeah, my husband says that the show Heroes is doing that, too. It makes me angry. And now the hate crimes legislation in regards to gays. But that's another thread. :)

I am glad to find this fellow followers in Christ. I too, was interested in this show and enjoying it. And kinda let the lesbian mention slide. But last weeks episode went too far. And I just CANNOT find ANY justifaction in watching it. It also made me upset b/c its on primetime. Not 10pm. But 8pm. (I think heh) gah

and you are right KC. The same thing happened on House. I was mad about that too.

I DO still like Leverage, the new show White Collar (THOUGH IT HAS A LESBIAN IN IT so that may be one I drop), the new family sitcom The Middle with Patricia Heaton, and the Law and Orders.

I know here in Va Beach at Regent U their Communication and the Arts program, they are really trying to teach top of the line quality yet wholesome entertainment. Not necessarily Little House on the Prareire (too tired to look sp up). but anyway, yeah.

I have missed the past 2 episodes, so I cannot give any input. However, if they put that junk in there, I'm not sure it's worth going back to catch up...

I'd say try to find a website with the synopsis. That's better then watching the episodes.

The whole Schrodinger's Cat thing kinda goes over my head, even in the Wikipedia article. But I think it's interesting that the tv show is kinda like a superhero comic with super intelligent villains like Lex Luthor doing evil experiments that cause 20 million people to die accidentally all in the name of science and there's no superheroes to stop them in time. I guess we're living in an age where such a problem could become more and more possible.

It is an interesting concept and it implied that Simon may have the power metaphorically speaking to decide who lives and who dies. Especially in sync with Janice's ordeal in the hospital. He is implying that he is a God of sorts and that he is the one true observer.

Very interesting episode. Things unfolding for some characters, and in the case of Al, just ended. I am really loving the discussions on free will and such that are being pushed in the series. Reminds me a lot of my junior English class.

Wow, the last 2 episodes were very good, especially yesterday's. That changes everything...

I liked the last episode (except for the portion where all the Blue Hand people were going to that warehouse to get their thrills and possibly die--can we say morbid?) too. I had hoped that there would be someone who proved that their flash forward wasn't true, but I didn't want someone to commit suicide for that to happen. Poor guy.

Lee Thompson Young really isn't that good of an actor, never has been, even during his Famous Jett Jackson days, so I'm not so sad to see him go.

Basically we really do have a Schrodinger's Cat going on....right now the Flashforwards are both True, and not True. We won't really know how true, or how not true til we "open the box" during the last episode of this season. I am thinking some will come true, and others won't. I am thinking it's sort of an existential thing in that they bring about their own futures by knowing what their futures are. And for some, they make it not true.

Great idea. Something only an evil genius would come up with.
